The Cricket Story

Cricket is like a part of the culture of our country, and this is good thing,  to respect and love a sport which is vastly popular all over the country. I have seen cricket uniting  people, when a huge match is on, i have seen people forget their differences and come together rooting for one nation, our nation , and when that proud moment of victory arrives i have seen them celebrate and rejoice like brothers. For me, missing an important cricket match is cruel and almost heart breaking because at that span of time all we want to do is eat, sleep, wear and breathe cricket ( if that is even possible), but life cannot take a long pause because of a match and so even unwillingly we have to carry on with our lives. But luckily technology has literally an answer to every single question we have.

I have a funny family story that revolves around cricket that I thought I could share with you. It was last year I guess when India had ODI series matches with England. I could not stress this enough but we try never to miss the match on TV when India is playing either with England or Pakistan, because everyone in my family belives that these two teams when they play against India results in the spiciest and craziest matches of all times.

So last year unfortunately while a match was in progress we had house guests , all close relatives. We welcomed them with immense pleasure , but deep inside everyone knew the plan of watching the whole ODI series was going to fail. Dinner was cooked and everyone was enjoying chatting and recollecting memories from past. Then suddenly dad had an idea I guess. He called us out in the kitchen and said " since you kids are not obliged to involve in the chit chats and the jibber jabber you people will keep a track and whisper the scores into our ears every now and then " . Also I distinctly remember, that was the day Dad finally agreed that out smart phones are not just a waste of time.

And every time anyone would hit a six or a four or any played was out i would just go to him and mom and whisper in their ears. Once he shouted out so loud in excitement that my relatives thought we were crazy. That was the most funniest cricket story we share in our family and we do not regret acting crazy at all simply because we love Cricket and also India won that ODI series against England. Needless to say we had a grand feast of chicken that day.

Cricket has touched deep into our hearts it is a part and parcel of who we are, we were raised watching the likes of  Kapil Dev and Sachin Tendulkar hitting sixes after sixes, we even mourned when they were were bowled or caught out. Every Indian is proud of who we are and what we have achieved in the field of Cricket. We are smitten , smitten with Cricket.

If you share the love of Cricket as I do , do watch the video on this blog post and also do check out the links given below for some really cool stuff.

Have a great day people!

#ComeCloser The Magic tricks up My seeve : Skincare

Taking good care of your skin is very essential and a goon skin not only makes you look beautiful but also is a sign of a healthy and active living, not to mention the amazing confidence you get when your skin is looking good and the praises do add up to your happiness.
Cleaning your face is extremely important because the face picks up dirt too quickly and if you have oily skin you will have more to complain about. Always carry tissue or wet wipes with you so that whenever you re-apply sun screen or moisturiser , you wipe it first. Use a sun-screen with SPF 15 to 20 . Using sunscreens with too much SPF may cause you skin damage.
To clean my face I prefer using a milk, gel or foam based cleanser or face wash because I believe using scrubbing and rubbing your skin will not clean it rather it will cause unnecessary burn and rash and harm your skin immensely.

When ever I go shopping for skincare products or stop at the drugstore I prefer to read the ingredients used in the making of the products, my skin is oily so I prefer gel based creams and lotions and foam based washes. After cleansing your skin always pad it dry with a clean towel instead of rubbing the towel.
After cleaning your skin always follow up with the application of moisturiser. Again take care of the type of moisturiser you use and the base it is made up of. Apply sunscreen at least 15 minutes before you step out of the house so that the sunscreen can best do the job.
If you apply make-up , always remember to remove before you go to bed, do not sleep with makeup on out of laziness or you will have to deal with unhealthy skin . Always buy skincare and makeup products from a good brand and go for organic or vegan makeup if possible. Do not apply make-up unnecessarily because makeup contains pigments for the colour and it may prove harmful for the skin. Also be very careful about the khol and kajal you buy because they are applied directly into your eyes and you do not want to end up with an eye irritation.
Make sure to apply a face mask, once or twice a week. Go for natural face-packs with papaya, cucumber and sandal-wood to keep you skin at its best. For a glowing skin do prefer to go for a natural facial once a month to maintain that glowing shin you are so proud of.

Always stick to a disciplined skincare routine, usually do it after shower as your skin is clean and at its best.

My First Expert

On evenings when I sit down for a cup a tea, I usually chat with my mother, most of the time listening more often than talking. Wondering how does she do it? I know I never could. An impeccable level of knowledge, life experience combined with her caring and nurturing nature and a strong mind that can face any practical problem at once. I had always believed that there are two sides to a person, his/her emotional side and his/her practical and logical side. The most amusing thing is that it is very difficult to find a person on this planet who has efficiently balanced both of these sides constantly in his/her life. I always believed that the person who lets the emotional side of his/her heart win over his/her practical side has been fooled by himself/herself.
Most of the time at evenings after listening to my mother’s stories I conclude that she has let the emotional side of her, get the better of her,  and she always says that sometimes being emotional is better than thinking logically.
Now this incident happened when I was a bit younger, precisely I was in middle school and I distinctly remember it to be a Sunday. I had never been exposed to any such incident before in my life so it did drain the life out of me for a while. We were going out for some shopping in our car, we had planned to go to the city as shopping in our town was rather useless as we did not get much to choose from. To get to the city from our town we had to cross quite a lot of not so urban areas. While we were in our car, there happened to be a situation. Dad always likes to take control of most of the things so he would never be behind a car, he would overtake any vehicle on the road. Hence he overtook a gentleman’s motorcycle, there were two of then and somehow the gentleman was about to loose control of the motorcycle but somehow regained control. Dad drove past the motorcycle without realising what had happened. When we reached a little further ahead the motorcycle came speeding by and stopped a little further ahead of our car. Dad stopped the car, the rider got down and, even though I was a child but by the look on his face I could tell that he had no fear. The other man was carrying something huge wrapped with a white cloth on his lap. The man just came and started yelling life threats at my father and was just about to open the driver side’s door. My father who had never bowed before anyone was rendered speechless. I had never him like this, and fear was apparent in his eye. He could not utter a word. Suddenly my mom started to speak, letting her emotional side win over her practical side, my eyes wide open as she uttered every single word, slowly the rider started to give in, and she persuaded him to leave. He gave us a threatening warning and drove away. Clearly both my parents had knew something was wrong with this man and he not to be messed with, and they were carrying something with them. But this was the first time I had seen my father, a man of thoughts, a man of logic, prove utterly useless, as compared to the emotional power of a mother, a wife and a human being.
Mother knew about her powers, of persuasion and emotion at she did weaponize them practically at the right moment at the right time. I never knew who were those men or were they at all dangerous but I did realize that my mother is a women of great standards. Brave and thoughtful, there is no one like her. She is my expert, my first expert. There are no people like them , Mothers!

It is more than just an App : The Airtel App

I remember receiving my first mobile phone back when I was attending my last years at school, I had to stay back late for classes and tutorials and so my parents decided to give me a mobile phone for safety. That was the first mobile phone of my life, and an Airtel Sim, obviously it was not an advanced smart phone that kids carry now, but at that time it was more than I could ask for. Airtel was the telecom company of their choice, they had this strong trust for Airtel network, which was not developed based on frequent ads on the television, rather  it was a result of experiences they had had when they had to visit relatives who resided in interior and rural parts of the state and Airtel stood by them through thick and thin. Airtel’s unaltered and constant service made them choose Airtel over many other telecom providers in the country.
Airtel is now one of the fastest growing companies in the country broadening its market with many other services, one of which is the Airtel app available on Google Play for android users (App for IOS users is said to hit the app market soon). Until last month I had no idea what this app was really about, a friend of mine suggested this app to me, and I must say Airtel has widened its horizon with this app. With so many facilities and services rolled into one small app under 10MB, it is a pretty good deal. Since the day I installed the app I have been a bit addicted to it and here are three really interesting reasons why.

First of all I would like to point out easy my life has become with this app because it really has. I have been able to recharge for my loved ones in such free and hassle free steps and that too on the go. You do not know when and where you might get a text message saying “Please recharge my phone” from your mom, and it is not always possible to takeout your laptop or even run down to that easy recharge store at the corner of the street. This is a life saver for me as most of the times I am busy with work and with this app I can add and recharge for the people I care about whenever and wherever I want.
Now I didn’t know that Airtel provides facilities to recharge your DTH until I got this app. But I swear, with all the work and the stress this is the only bill I forget to pay, and I realize it only when my channels vanish from my T.V. This annoying habit of mine had a solution, and it was the Airtel App. Now even if I forget to pay my DTH bill it is only a matter of seconds and then I am back watching that Series that I am a huge fan of, thanks to Airtel App and Airtel Money.

And the third and most amazing thing about this app are the amazing deals they offer. When you open this app on your smart phone all you have to do is shake your phone, the app at once senses this and shows you several deals available for you. You will be so thrilled to check out their on app deals, they are worth every penny you pull out of your pocket. Not to forget the “Airtel Surprises” displayed on their home page where you get coupons to redeem at different stores whose value may go up to your recharge amount or even more. With so many options to choose from like cash back, full talktime and free data you really do get spoilt for choices.
Although all these are a great bargain for just a small app, these look good only if you happen to possess a smart phone. If you do not, then this may be a sign, to go get a smart phone, install this app and maybe read this post again (wink!).

Hope you enjoyed reading this post!! Lookout for more such posts

 and have a great day!

To know more about the app you can always download it from the Google Play Store or check out their website http://www.airtel.in/myairtel

'The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows and the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.' - Audrey Hepburn
